Mr. Kunev graduated from the First English Language High School of Sofia in 1977 and from St. Petersburg School of Mines, 1984, with Applied Geophysics. From 1984 to 1995 he worked in the Scientific Institute for Mineral Resources in Sofia as a Research Associate in the Oil and Gas Department involved in prospect generation offshore and onshore Bulgaria. In 1992 Mr. Kunev defended his Ph.D. thesis in the field of new oil and gas exploration techniques at the Moscow Institute of Physics of the Earth. In 1993 he worked on secondment at British Gas, Bulgaria where he was involved in the company’s exploration programme. Since 1995 he has been working as a Coordinator/Executive Director/Manager of the Balkan and Black Sea Petroleum Association, where he has many years of experience in the oil and gas sector and in consulting and reporting on the regional upstream and downstream oil and gas issues.
Monika Manolova, Coordinator
Ms. Manolova holds a bachelor’s degree in regional development and politics from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and is currently working towards a master’s in planning and governance of territorial systems. She has a Cambridge Certificate for Proficiency in English and has graduated with honors from the Foreign Language School in Lovech, Bulgaria – major in English and minor in German.
